THUNDER BAY – Some of Northwestern Ontario’s secrets are getting out. Agate Beach on the beautiful North Shore of Lake Superior has been recognized for its beauty. The recognition comes from the Travel and Escape Network.

The network’s list of special beaches include Hawaii, Martinique, Mexico, New Zealand, Dominica and Puerto Rico.

“Since ancient times, agate stones have been used as amulets to purify, protect and heal. This beach in the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area near Thunder Bay is pebbled with banded-agate, a unique stone revered for its special mystic powers. Spend time on this remote beach (water access only) and you’ll soon find yourself believing in magic”.

There are many beautiful places,  many not well known across the region. As these places are discovered, and shared online it will help build the tourism market in our region.
