North Corporation are pleased to announce the promotion of a suite of energy efficiency and conservation programs available to residential and business customers across Northwestern Ontario.
Through a continued partnership with Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and the Save on Energy initiative, customers now have access to a broad range of energy-saving programs and incentives designed to reduce electricity costs, improve comfort, and support sustainable energy use.
Together, the four local electricity distributors are encouraging customers across Northwestern Ontario to explore the wide range of available incentives and supports.
Programs for Homeowners and Renters
Local customers can take advantage of the following residential programs:
• Peak Perks: Earn a $75 reward for enrolling in automated smart thermostat adjustments during periods of high electricity demand.
• Home Renovation Savings Program: Receive rebates on energy-efficient upgrades such as insulation, heat pumps, smart thermostats, windows and more.
• Energy Affordability Program: Income-qualified households may be eligible for free energy-saving upgrades or energy-saving kits.
These programs help homeowners and renters across the region manage energy costs, enhance home comfort, and increase efficiency while contributing to a more resilient local grid.Programs Supporting Businesses
Businesses across Atikokan, Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, and the broader Synergy North service area can access a range of incentives aimed at improving energy performance and operational efficiency:
• Retrofit Program: Financial support for upgrading to more efficient equipment.
• Small Business Program: Incentives for energy-efficient lighting and other products.
• Instant Discounts: Upfront savings when purchasing eligible efficiency products through participating distributors.
• Expanded Energy Management Program: Funding to develop internal energy management strategies.
• Energy Performance Programs: Rewards for measurable energy savings over time.
• XLerate Program: Eligible customers can receive support for large capital energy-saving projects that deliver significant, measurable results.
These initiatives help local businesses reduce operating costs, strengthen competitiveness, and support the long-term economic vitality of communities across Northwestern Ontario. In addition, medium and large commercial customers can access expert guidance to identify energy efficiency opportunities, evaluate potential projects, and navigate available incentives.
