Toronto – NEWS – Toronto Police Service officers have been arrested in connection with a York Regional Police investigation into organized crime and corruption. One outlet reports seven officers arrested, while another reports at least nine.

Ahead of a scheduled briefing, police have not publicly confirmed the number of officers involved or outlined specific charges. Some reports state as many as 30 police officers have been arrested.

In a media advisory, York Regional Police described “Project South” as a lengthy investigation and said Chief Jim MacSween and Deputy Chief Ryan Hogan will provide an update Thursday at 10 a.m. at YRP headquarters in Aurora, joined by Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw.

Union acknowledges arrests

The Toronto Police Association has confirmed that some of its members were arrested, saying it will ensure members receive due process and wellness support, while not commenting further on the investigation.
