THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) reports officers responded to 959 calls for service between January 11 and January 17.

That works out to an average of 137 calls for service per day over the seven-day period.

What Police Responded To

TBPS provided the following breakdown of select call types attended during the week:

  • Motor Vehicle Collisions: 103

  • Intimate Partner Violence: 54

  • Mental Health Act: 46

  • Assaults: 20

  • Family Disputes: 15

  • Weapons Calls: 9

  • Break and Enters: 6

  • Unwanted Persons: 73

Note: These categories represent some of the call types handled; the overall total includes other incidents not listed here.

Communications Centre Activity: 4,100 Total Calls

TBPS also reports its Communications Centre handled 4,100 calls during the same week, including 1,608 calls made to 911.

Daily averages based on the seven-day reporting period:

  • Total Communications calls: ~586 per day

  • 911 calls: ~230 per day
