Treaty Three Police charge Grassy Narrows man after Christmas Day assault investigation

Police Respond to Early Morning Call of Violence on Reserve

GRASSY NARROWS FIRST NATION – December 25, 2025 – Treaty Three Police Service officers responded to a report of violence early Christmas morning on the Grassy Narrows First Nation.

Police allege that a 43-year-old man assaulted a woman. Investigators further allege that during the same incident, a second individual, was struck with a baseball bat by the same suspect. That person required medical treatment for his injuries.

Treaty Three Police arrested a suspect at the scene following their investigation.

As a result, Ryan Pahpasay (born April 28, 1982) has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Assault (Section 266, Criminal Code)

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Section 267(b), Criminal Code)

Pahpasay was transported to the Kenora Jail, where he remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Kenora Court on December 30, 2025.


⚖️ LEGAL CONTEXT:

  • Assault (Section 266) is a criminal offence punishable by up to five years imprisonment if prosecuted by indictment.

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Section 267(b)) is a more serious offence and carries a potential sentence of up to ten years imprisonment upon conviction.

All charges have yet to be proven in court. The accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
