THUNDER BAY — December 24, 2025 — The Salvation Army’s 2025 Thunder Bay Christmas Kettle Campaign has raised $338,888 to date, surpassing its $310,000 fundraising goal.

Organizers say the strong results reflect the generosity of Thunder Bay residents and the dedication of volunteers who supported the campaign throughout the holiday season.

While the goal has been met, additional donations will help expand support for people in need across the communityin the months ahead. Contributions will continue to be accepted, with donors reminded that 2025 donations must be received by midnight on December 31, 2025, or postmarked December 31 to be receipted for the 2025 tax year.

Supporting Services Year-Round

Funds raised through the Christmas Kettles help ensure stable funding for Salvation Army programs over the next 365 days, including:

  • A mobile meal program serving 50 to 240 people per night

  • A food bank distributing about 395 hampers per month

  • A school nutrition program supporting 135 students daily

  • Emergency shelter services and transitional housing programming

  • Other community supports responding to ongoing need

With continued economic pressures, The Salvation Army reports that more people are reaching out for assistance.

“This has been a difficult year for everyone. We are so grateful for the support we have received at the Kettles — we recognize that especially this year, it is a sacrifice for many to give, both financially and of their time,” said Gary Ferguson, Executive Director of The Salvation Army Community & Residential Services. “Many people will benefit because of your selflessness.”

Thank You to Volunteers and Local Partners

The Salvation Army credited the campaign’s success to the many volunteers — including long-time bell ringers and new community members who stepped up this year — along with local businesses and partners who provided support.

Thanks were extended to businesses that hosted kettle and countertop stands, as well as:

  • Halfway Motors Nissan for providing a vehicle

  • Tbaytel for providing a campaign phone

  • Mastrangelo Fuels for assistance with fuel

The organization also acknowledged local media for helping promote the campaign and sharing results with the community.
