Traffic Complaint Reported on December 6

RED LAKE, ON — Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say officers responded on December 6, 2025 after receiving a traffic complaint involving a tractor-trailer unit (TTU) alleged to be driving in the middle of the roadwayand preventing other vehicles from passing.

Police report the TTU was later located and stopped.

Provincial Offence Notices Issued

OPP say the 37-year-old driver from Calgary, Alberta was served Provincial Offence Notices for:

  • Driving to the left of the centre on a curve

  • Failing to carry an insurance card

These are provincial traffic offences (not Criminal Code charges).

Potential Penalties If Convicted

If convicted, penalties for Provincial Offence Notices typically include:

  • A monetary fine, plus court costs and the victim fine surcharge (amounts vary depending on the specific offence and how the matter is handled).

  • For lane/centre-line violations, a conviction may also result in demerit points depending on the exact offence category.

  • For not carrying an insurance card, the penalty is generally a fine, and drivers are often expected to produce valid proof of insurance (if they have it) to resolve the issue.

Winter Driving Reminder: Stay Predictable, Stay Visible

With winter conditions, OPP remind motorists to:

  • Stay in your lane and avoid drifting over the centre line

  • Slow down for curves, especially on snow-packed or icy surfaces

  • Keep required documents (licence, ownership/registration, insurance) accessible

  • Ensure lights, mirrors, and windows are clear of snow and ice

Road safety is a shared responsibility. OPP encourage the public to report dangerous driving by calling 1-888-310-1122, or dial 911 in an emergency.
