Thunder Bay Police have cordoned off part of the parking lot behind and beside the Landmark Inn. Officers are concentrating on a nearby pathway. The public is asked to avoid the area

What we know so far

Thunder Bay – News – A large number of Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) officers are on scene at the Landmark Inn area, where a significant section of the parking lot behind and beside the hotel has been taped off.

Police activity appears to be centred on a pathway that runs parallel to the hotel.

Specialist units on scene

A TBPS K-9 unit has been deployed. At least one Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser is also present. A forensic identification van is on site, indicating evidence-gathering is underway.

Investigation status

Police have not released details about the nature of the investigation at this time. Informed sources advise NNL that is is a very serious incident.

Public advisory

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area to allow officers and forensic teams to work safely and without interruption.
