Thunder Bay Fire Crews Quickly Extinguish Bay Street Apartment Fire
THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews quickly extinguished an apartment fire in the 300 block of Bay Street after responding to an early afternoon report of an alarm ringing and smoke in the building.
No Injuries Reported After Second-Floor Apartment Fire
The first-arriving pumper crew confirmed smoke in the building, prompting the officer in charge to request a second alarm.
The upgraded response added two pumpers and an aerial ladder to the initial deployment of four pumpers and a command unit.
Firefighters entered the building, made their way to the second floor and located the fire inside an apartment. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control after making rapid entry and applying water immediately.
Searches Confirm Apartment Was Empty
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue says crews completed thorough searches of the affected apartment and confirmed no people or pets were inside.
All other occupants of the building had evacuated safely before or during the fire response.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
