Man Arrested After Foot Chase; Faces Drug-Impaired Driving and Breach Charges

TBPS Traffic Unit alleges suspected drug deal on Dawson Rd.; DRE evaluation indicates impairment

THUNDER BAY – CRIME – August 22, 2025 — A 33-year-old man has been arrested after attempting to flee from a Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) Traffic Unit officer in the 1100 block of Dawson Road on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Police say the officer observed the driver engaging in a suspected drug transaction with others in the area. When approached, the male allegedly failed to comply with commands and ran. Additional officers searched the vicinity and located a suspect matching the description, who was taken into custody.

At headquarters, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) conducted an evaluation and determined the driver was impaired by drug, according to police.

Charges

Kyle BECKER, 33, is charged with:

  • Impaired Operation of a Vehicle

  • Resisting a Peace Officer

  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order

  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order

The accused appeared in court Friday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
