EDMONTON – NATIONAL NEWS – July 10 2025: Alberta’s Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit has once again wielded its legal authority to shut down a chronic problem property—this time at 6707 32 Ave NW, a residence linked to drug trafficking, assaults, and two fatal overdoses since 2015.
Court-Ordered Closure
-
Effective Noon, July 10: All occupants, including the owner, were ordered to vacate.
-
Duration: The house will remain closed for 90 days, with fences, boards, and new locks installed.
-
Extended Restrictions: Conditions of the Community Safety Order remain in place until Oct. 8 2028, allowing sheriffs to monitor and re-enter if illegal activity resumes.
The order was granted in the Court of King’s Bench after sheriffs presented extensive evidence of persistent crime on the premises.
