Traffic Advisory: Thunder Bay Police Close Section of High Street South Amid Ongoing Emergency Investigation

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Thunder Bay Police Service has shut down a portion of High Street South, between Hester Street and Lisgar Street, as officers respond to a serious emergency situation that unfolded late this afternoon.

Multiple police vehicles are positioned across the roadway, with flashing emergency lights activated. The scene has been secured with police tape stretched across the full width of the street, preventing access to both vehicles and pedestrians.

As of this report, the nature of the emergency remains undisclosed.

Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response officers responded to a call for service in the 300 block of High Street South shortly after noon on Thursday, June 26.

One person has been transported to hospital by paramedics. The extent of the individual’s injuries is not immediately known.

The Major Crimes Unit is involved in the ongoing investigation.

There is no current threat to public safety.

The closure began approximately one hour ago and is expected to remain in place while the investigation continues.

Authorities are strongly advising all non-local traffic to avoid the area, particularly High Street between Beverly Street and Oliver Road, to allow emergency personnel to conduct their work without disruption.
