Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responds to vehicle and garage blaze; residents reminded to stay out once evacuated

THUNDER BAY – LOCAL NEWS – Just before midnight on April 24, 2025, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call reporting a detached garage and vehicle fire in the 2000 block of Broadway Avenue.

Injuries Reported, Extra Crews Dispatched

Initial reports to dispatch indicated that someone may have been injured in the fire. That information triggered the request for additional pumpers to the scene.

Upon arrival, two pumper crews launched an immediate fire attack, applying water through multiple entry points to quickly suppress the flames engulfing the garage.

Vehicle Removed and Fire Contained

Once the garage fire was brought under control, firefighters shifted focus to the burning vehicle, which had been removed from the structure. Their rapid response helped prevent the fire from spreading further.

The fire caused extensive damage to the rear of the garage, while the rest of the structure sustained moderate smoke and water damage.

One Person Transported to Hospital

One individual on scene was assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital. No further details on their condition were available at the time of publication.

Fire Safety Reminder

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents of a critical safety message:

Never re-enter a burning building once you’ve evacuated. Let trained emergency personnel handle the situation.
