No Active Fires Across the Northwest as of April 14

At the time of this report (17:15 CDT), no active wildfires remain burning in the region. AFFES will continue to monitor the landscape closely as spring conditions develop and fire risk increases with warmer, drier weather.

Updates will be shared twice-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, with the next report scheduled for April 17.

Public Urged to Follow Outdoor Burning Rules as Spring Risk Increases

As of April 1, Ontario’s Outdoor Burning Regulations are in effect for the Northwest Fire Region. AFFES urges the public to take extra precautions when disposing of yard waste and woody debris.

Alternative methods like composting or utilizing local landfills are strongly recommended. If outdoor burning is necessary:

  • Fires must only be ignited no sooner than two hours before sunset,

  • And must be fully extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise.

  • Always have water and tools ready to contain your fire.

Violating these regulations can result in fines and legal action, especially if your fire causes damage or spreads.

The full set of Ontario’s Outdoor Burning Regulations can be reviewed on the provincial website.
