Early Morning Blaze on Trowbridge Rd

SHUNIAH – NEWS – Shuniah Fire & Emergency Services (SFES) tackled a house fire early on November 24, 2023, after receiving a call at around 8:50 am. The incident occurred on Trowbridge Rd, where fire crews encountered a smoke-engulfed house.

Firefighting Efforts and Casualties

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke billowing from the eaves and windows blackened with smoke. They quickly searched for occupants and extinguished the fire located in the laundry/electrical room. The fire was under control by 10:20 am and completely out by 11:00 am. Sadly, two cats and a dog perished, but no human injuries were reported.

Collaborative Response and Investigation

Ten SFES firefighters, five Pass Lake firefighters, Superior North EMS, Ontario Provincial Police, and Hydro One personnel were involved in the response. All SFES units were back in service by 2:00 pm. The fire’s cause is currently under investigation.
