Fort Frances: OPP Arrests Two Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Case

Fort Frances, ON – The Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has taken two individuals into custody, charging them with the theft of a motor vehicle.

Stolen Commercial Vehicle

On September 13, 2023, the Rainy River District OPP Detachment responded to a report of a stolen commercial motor vehicle from a local business located on Fifth Street West in Fort Frances.

Recovery Across Borders

Shortly after the theft report, the Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) located the stolen commercial motor vehicle near Winnipeg, Manitoba. The RCMP promptly arrested the individuals involved in the theft and transported them back to the Rainy River District OPP Detachment.

Charges Laid

Subsequently, Chris SUNDELL, 20-years-old, hailing from Rossport, and Aiden HARRIS, 18-years-old, from Ignace, have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Legal Proceedings

Both accused individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on October 30, 2023.
