AROLAND – Weather – A period of freezing rain is expected to last longer than initially anticipated.

Ice accretion of 5 to 10 mm due to freezing rain starting this morning and persisting until Monday morning.

The area is expected to experience intermittent periods of freezing rain as a result of a quasi-stationary low pressure system. The freezing rain will continue, with occasional brief lulls, until Monday morning when it is expected to switch to a mixture of snow and ice pellets.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots will become treacherous and icy, making them unsafe for travel. Ice accumulation may lead to tree branches breaking, and power outages may occur.
