Rainfall Warning

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued Rainfall Warnings for most of Western Ontario as of 10:30 am May 11, 2022.

20 to 50 mm of rain is forecast.

Rain is expected to start this evening and continue into Friday.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson
  • Fort Frances – Emo – Rainy River
  • Seine River Village – Mine Centre
  • Dryden – Vermilion Bay
  • Ignace – English River
  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

Two more rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely. The first will begin this evening and taper off Thursday morning. The second is forecast to begin Thursday evening and taper off Friday morning.

Considerable uncertainty remains regarding the rainfall amounts. At this point in time, local rainfall amounts in the 25 to 50 mm range appear possible.
