THUNDER BAY – River Street is closed between Algoma Street N and College Street due to emergency road maintenance.
The section of River Street between Peter Street and Farrand Street will be completely closed with no flow thru traffic. Local traffic can access residences between both College St. and Peter Street, and Algoma Street N and Farrand Street, but are asked to exercise caution.
The sinkhole in the road is about eight to ten feet across and it is hard to gauge how deep it goes.
The public should not use this section of side walk in this area as well. The duration of the road closure is undetermined at this time.
Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route, to drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.
