Live from the Rock Folk Festival is presenting Heavy Rotation, a two-day outdoor concert on October 16 and 17, 2021. Held over two days and in two different locations, Heavy Rotation features eight acts who will perform in two cohorts over the weekend and travel to play both locations.

“In response to the ongoing pandemic and in lieu of our regular festival held each year in Red Rock, Live from the Rock wanted to host an event that is smaller in scale but still supports local and regional artists, while at the same time creates opportunities for people in the area to get outside and enjoy live music,” says festival chair Laura Foulds.

Featuring performances from Rodney Brown, JordinLaine, Olivia Korkola, Jamie Smith, Mike Procyshyn, Cassidy Houston, Greenbank and Gibson, Martin & I, Heavy Rotation will take place simultaneously at Mount Baldy Ski Area in Shuniah and the Red Rock marina grounds in Red Rock.

The event will also include food vendors, artist and festival merchandise, alcoholic beverage sales and on site campfire pit stops. Patrons at the Red Rock venue will enjoy festival favourites served up by the new Bussin B’s food booth recently opened by young local entrepreneur Carter Boudreau, while music lovers at the Mount Baldy venue will be treated to wood-fired pizza sales from popular WE KNEAD PIZZA.

In line with the recently released Ontario vaccine passport framework, ticket holders will not be required to show proof of vaccination for entry to the outdoor event; however, social distancing, mandatory masks and Covid screening at the gates will be strictly enforced. Hand sanitizer stations will also be set up at the gates and on site.

Attendees are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs and anyone interested in fall camping in Red Rock may do so with regular summer daily rates applicable and payable to the Township of Red Rock.

“When thinking about what activities we wanted to deliver to the community, we had a number of considerations to make including local Covid numbers and how best to move forward from our 2020/21 virtual concert series to an in-person event that still offers many of the same elements as our festival,” Foulds continues. “What we settled on is a great event that will celebrate the fall season and bring members of the community out in smaller crowds at each location so they can socialize and enjoy some amazingly talented musicians safely and responsibly.”

General Admission passes are now available. Ticket numbers are limited and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $75 plus online processing fees, allowing attendees at both locations to enjoy all eight artists over the two days (four on each day) for just under $10 per act.
