Storm Tracker Weather Update

Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Weather warnings are in effect for parts of Northern Ontario. The Rainfall Advisories and Warnings have ended for Western Ontario including the City of Thunder Bay.

There is a real need for all of us to be practicing common sense COVID-19 wise. Kindness matters, and racism and hate simply have no place in our society.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Ear Falls – Perrault Falls – Western Lac Seul
  • Red Lake – Woodland Caribou Park
  • Savant Lake – Sturgeon Lake
  • Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul
  • Pickle Lake – Cat Lake

The weather service says that freezing rain is likely this morning.

The forecast is calling for a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and snow to continue this morning. Some uncertainty exists as temperatures this morning will be near the freezing mark. The freezing rain potential will end early this afternoon as temperatures rise above zero.

Freezing drizzle advisory in effect for:

  • Pikangikum – Poplar Hill – MacDowell
  • Sandy Lake – Weagamow Lake – Deer Lake
  • Big Trout Lake – Kasabonika
  • Sachigo Lake – Bearskin Lake
  • Webequie
  • Peawanuck

Freezing drizzle is likely today into Wednesday morning.

Light snow mixed with freezing drizzle will continue Tuesday, and then come to end overnight or Wednesday morning.

Thunder Bay Weather

It is +5 this morning on the way to a daytime high of +8 in Thunder Bay. Periods of rain should be ending this morning then cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of showers. Fog patches dissipating this morning.

Tonight will see cloudy skies. There will be a 40 percent chance of rain showers changing to a 40 percent chance of flurries or rain showers near midnight. Fog patches developing after midnight. Winds will be up to 15 km/h. Low -3. Wind chill -5 overnight.

Sioux Lookout Weather

The Freezing Rain Warning continues. The forecast is for periods of rain mixed with snow changing to snow or ice pellets this morning. There is a risk of freezing rain this morning. Fog patches will be dissipating this morning. Snow and ice pellet amounts of 2 to 4 centimetres are expected. Winds will be northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. Temperature steady near -2.

Tonight we are calling for periods of snow with accumulations of 2 centimetres. Winds will be from the northeast at 20 km/h gusting to 40. Low -3. Wind chill -8 overnight.

Sachigo Lake Weather

The forecast for Sachigo Lake looks more like winter than spring today. There will be periods of light snow or freezing drizzle. Fog patches will be dissipating this morning. Winds will be northeast 20 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 40 gusting to 60 this morning. Temperature steady near -5. Wind chill near -15.

Tonight the forecast is calling for periods of light snow or freezing drizzle ending after midnight followed by cloudy conditions. Winds will be northeast 40 km/h gusting to 60 diminishing to 20 gusting to 40 after midnight. Low -11. Wind chill -13 this evening and -18 overnight.

Kenora and Lake of the Woods

It is zero in Kenora this morning. Periods of snow with amounts from 2 to 4 centimetres are expected. Winds will be northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. High for Tuesday will be +1.

Tonight, those periods of snow will be ending this evening then cloudy skies with a 60 percent chance of flurries. Winds will be northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. Low -4. Wind chill -9 overnight.
