Thunder Bay – NEWS – After a fire that shut down the Thunder Bay Court House on October 4, 2020, it appears that the building is getting ready to be re-opened.

It is hoped that the building will be able to be re-opened by the middle of February.

The fire last October broke out on the 7th floor of the facility on Brodie Street in Thunder Bay’s Fort William BIA. There was extensive water damage to the building as a result of efforts to put out the fire.

Brian Gray, a spokesperson for the Ontario Government states, “The Thunder Bay Courthouse at 125 Brodie St. N. remains closed while repairs are conducted.”

The fire was not the first incident at the court house.

During construction there was an incident where a large concrete slab fell to the ground.

The boom arm on a large crane broke in that instance.
