Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Above seasonal averages temperature wise in the region today. This morning the cold spot in Ontario is -11.1 °C or 12.0 °F for our American readers recorded at Washaho Cree Nation or Fort Severn, Ontario’s most northerly settlement.

Thunder Bay Weather Outlook

Roads in the city have a coating of fresh snow. With the temperature at -2°C there are going to be slippery sidewalks and roads. Environment Canada says we can expect mainly cloudy skies. The predicted 40 percent chance of flurries this morning is currently, at 07:00am a 100 percent certainty as light snow is falling. Winds will be west 20 km/h near noon. Today’s forecast high plus 1°C. With the wind however the wind chill will make it feel like minus 9°C.

For tonight, skies will remain mainly cloudy however they will be clearing before morning. Winds west 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low minus 8°C. Wind chill near minus 13°C.

The expected high today is a long way from the warmest it has ever been on this day, it was 10.0°C back in 1962. It is thankfully also far from the -23.0°C recorded in 1985.

Geraldton

Mainly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of flurries early this morning. Environment Canada says that a few flurries will start this morning and end this afternoon. Winds up to 15 km/h are forecast. A daytime high will be minus 1°C. Wind chill minus 11°C this morning and minus 5°C this afternoon.

Tonight Mainly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of flurries late this evening and overnight are forecast. Winds up to 15 km/h. Low minus 6°C. Wind chill minus 6°C this evening and minus 12°C overnight.

Sachigo Lake

For our friends up in Sachigo Lake, it is -10°C this morning at 07:00, under mainly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of flurries. Winds will be northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming southwest 20 this afternoon. The temperature will be steady near minus 8°C with the wind chill near minus 17°C.

Tonight, cloudy conditions are forecast with a 40 percent chance of flurries early this evening. There will be periods of light snow beginning this evening. Wind southwest 20 km/h. Temperature rising to minus 6°C by morning. Wind chill near minus 15°C.

Kenora and Lake of the Woods

It is currently -7°C in Kenora under mainly cloudy skies. There is a 40 percent chance of flurries early this morning. Winds will become southwest 20 km/h near noon. High minus 2°C, however the wind chill near minus 12°C.

Tonight, mainly cloudy skies will continue. Winds will be southwest 20 km/h becoming light late this evening. Low minus 4°C. Wind chill minus 8°C this evening.
