Minister of Health Patty Hajdu – Together Lets Do Everything We Can to Flatten the Curve

THUNDER BAY – NetNewsLedger spoke with Minister of Health Patty Hajdu this morning (March 27, 2020) by phone.

The Minister says that right now the situation remains very volatile and that the Government of Canada is doing everything they can to protect and to re-assure Canadians in this unprecedented pandemic.

The Minister says in the interview that reports of COVID-19 across Canada have risen. The efforts taken so far are still in the process of making an impact.

The Minister outlines that the Government of Canada has provided a very extensive list of supports for Canadians.

Minister Hajdu asks that all Canadians do all they can against what she calls a “very sneaky virus” – continue to self-isolate, continue to practice social distancing and to do everything we all can together to flatten the curve.

Asked about the special requirements for the almost 3000 international students Minister Hajdu states they are aware of the needs and are working on that area too but that students need to keep in touch with their educational institutions to get the latest updates.

The income supports website will be up in early April, next week the Minister assures Canadians.
