THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Travellers heading east from Thunder Bay should be aware that weather and road conditions heading toward Sault Ste Marie are likely through Sunday to become far less easy for travel.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning. The weather service says the storm will start this evening. A Texas Low is tracking toward the Great Lakes today.
Snowfall warning in effect for:
- Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
- Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay
This low will bring an area of snow with it, arriving early this evening in the Sault Ste. Marie area then quickly spreading east to remaining regions north of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay by midnight. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected by the time the snow moves out of the area Tuesday morning.
Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate after the snow arrives this evening. Motorists should be prepared to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
