THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Union representing our Elementary, Secondary and Occasional Teachers (OECTA) served a Notice of Strike Action outlining a full withdrawal of services in the form of a one-day strike on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. This action is in addition to the sanctions currently in place.

Unless OECTA withdraws its strike notice, all TBCDSB schools and programs will be closed to students on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. We ask parents and guardians of our students to arrange care for their child as a contingency plan if this one-day strike takes place.

The Board respects the Union’s right to strike and remains hopeful this strike may be avoided by a negotiated settlement between the Provincial bargaining parties. Our priority continues to be the safety and well-being of everyone in our schools while maintaining caring learning environments for all students and staff.
