North Spirit Lake Drug Bust Results in Crack Cocaine Seizure

NORTH SPIRIT Lake FN – On January 11, 2020, as part of an investigation a warrant was executed in North Spirit Lake First Nation by the Nishnawbe Aski Police (NAPS) Drug Enforcement Unit, NAPS Guns and Gangs Unit, NAPS Criminal Intelligence Unit, NAPS North Spirit Lake Detachment members, along with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the Thunder Bay Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit. As a result, drugs and cash were seized and three people were charged.

Police seized a large quantity of Crack Cocaine along with four thousand four hundred ($4,400.00) dollars in currency. The street value of the seized drugs and currency totals approximately fifty-three thousand two-hundred ($53,200.00) dollars.

An adult male and two adult females are each charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 and one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

All three have been released from custody on conditions and will next appear in court in North Spirit Lake First Nation on August 8, 2020. The three cannot be named at this time due to the processing of court documents.
