THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the activity line-up for Winter FunDays presented by 99.9 The Bay and Country 105. Winter FunDays start Sunday, December 22, at Prince Arthur’s Landing and run every Sunday until March 8, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm unless specified otherwise.

Winter FunDays activities include:

  • December 22 – Ice Bubbles and Outdoor Games
  • December 29 – Skating Party with the Thunder Bay Skating Academy
  • January 5 – Campfire and Story Telling with Parks Canada
  • January 12 – Snowshoeing with the Special Olympics Thunder Bay Snowshoe Athletes
  • January 19 – Winter Sports and Snow Fun with the City of Thunder Bay’s Children and Youth Section
  • January 26 – Dogsledding with Boreal Journeys Sled Dog Kennel from 12 pm – 4 pm
    (Rides are for children aged 14 and under only)
  • February 2 – Snow Sculpting Fun with Willow Springs Creative Centre
  • February 9 – Thunderwolves Day on the Waterfront with the Lakehead University Thunderwolves Hockey Team
  • February 16 – Pre-SnowDay Fun on the Waterfront from 2 pm – 5 pm
  • February 23 – Bannock Over The Fire with the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
  • March 1 – Cabane à sucre (Sugar Shack) with Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay
  • March 8 – Winter Science Stations with Science North

The Community Arts & Heritage Education Project (CAHEP) will be offering art and craft activities in Mariner’s Hall, with the exception of December 29 and January 26 where activities will take place inside the Baggage Building Arts Centre.

Winter FunDays Art and Craft activities include:

  • December 22 – Sparkling icicles and decorated ornaments
  • December 29 – Oil pastel winter skylines and decorated pine cones
  • January 5 – 1969 Amalgamation song lyrics and Thunder Bay flag stamps
  • January 12 – Arts buildings collage and abstract winter-themed pastel designs
  • January 19 – Collaborative (exquisite corpse) drawing and abstract winter-themed pastel designs
  • January 26 – City sports collage and hybrid Pokémon characters
  • February 2 – FIMO clay Special Olympic sports icons and learn to sketch with charcoal
  • February 9 – Special Olympics sports postage stamps
  • February 16 & 23 – 3D stencil sport superheroes
  • March 1 & 8 – City amalgamation comic book art and sharpie art cards
