THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police report they have made a second arrest in an armed robbery of a Circle K store in the city.

The robbery took place on November 30, 2019.

Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the Circle K convenience store on 1315 Arthur Street East in the morning hours of Saturday, November 30, 2019, following reports of an armed robbery involving two suspects with long guns.

Police learned the two male suspects pointed the firearms at the store clerk while making demands for money and store merchandise.

The suspects fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and store merchandise.

The combined effort of members from dispatch, the Emergency Task Unit, K9 Unit, Community Response Team and first-responding Uniform Patrol Branch officers in searching the area meant police eventually located and seized the discarded rifles believed to have been used in the robbery.

An ongoing investigation led by members of the Community Response Team led to both suspects being identified.

CRT investigators located and arrested Skylar WANAKAMIK, 18, of Thunder Bay, on Friday, December 6, 2019. The second suspect, a 17-year-old male from Thunder Bay, was located and arrested in the afternoon hours of Sunday, December 15, 2019.
