Dryden Police Kept Busy as October Winds Down

DRYDEN – It has been a few busy days for Dryden Police. Weather-related collisions, Shoplifting, and a domestic dispute topped the crime blotter for police.

Charges Laid Following Shoplifting Call

On October 29, 2019, Dryden Police Service arrested and charged three individuals for shoplifting at Walmart located on Highway 17 around 2:00 pm. Dryden Police received a report of shoplifting taking place inside the store and upon arrival met individuals in the parking lot where two were immediately placed under arrest. One of the accused attempted to flee in the wooded area near Walmart and was subsequently arrested.
John Carl Joseph POLKINGHORNE, 23-years-old of Dryden, ON has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 and Failing to Comply with Probation Order. POLKINGHORNE was released on an OIC Undertaking and a Promise to Appear for court on December 16, 2019, in Dryden, ON.

Mary Macy MACHIMITY, 45 years-old of Dryden, ON has been charged with Theft Under $5000. MACHIMITY was released on an OIC Undertaking and a Promise to Appear for court on December 16, 2019, in Dryden, ON.

Sean Patrick CASTON, 37 years-old of Dryden, ON has been charged with Theft Under $5000 and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. CASTON was released on an OIC Undertaking with numerous conditions and a Promise to Appear for December 16, 2019, for court in Dryden, ON.

Multiple Collisions Reported Tuesday

Dryden Police Service responded to a number of motor vehicle collisions on October 29, 2019.

At 1:00 pm, a vehicle struck a deer on Colonization Ave, no injuries were reported.

At 5:00 pm, a two-vehicle collision was reported on Van Horne and Parkdale Road. Both vehicles sustained damaged. No injuries reported. Road conditions were a factor.

At 5:15 pm, a two-vehicle collision was reported in the King Street Underpass. One vehicle was severely damaged and had to be removed from the scene. Minor injuries were reported that did not require transportation to the hospital. No charges laid.

At 7:00 pm, a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and Transport was reported on Highway 17 near Walmart. Dryden Police, Northwest EMS, and Dryden Fire attended. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries reported. No charges were laid.

Charges Laid in Domestic Assault

A 49-year-old male is in custody awaiting a bail hearing to Dryden, ON after he was charged with assault on his 42-year-old female partner. Dryden Police were called to a home in Dryden shortly before 4:00 pm where the arrest was made. The Dryden Police Service will not release the names of the accused person’s in order to protect the identity of the victim.
