THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Grab the raincoats and umbrellas. Environment Canada has weather warnings and advisories out across Northwestern Ontario.

For the City of Thunder Bay and the Superior West region, the forecast is calling for rain that will get heavier over the course of Friday.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Rain will begin overnight tonight and continue through Friday night, with the most rainfall occurring Friday afternoon and evening. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are expected, with higher amounts possible in embedded thunderstorms.

The highest rainfall amounts are expected north of Lake Superior between Nipigon and Marathon, including Pays Plat, Terrace Bay and Neys. A Rainfall Warning may be required. Environment Canada meteorologists are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
