Police Seek Two Males in Robbery of Roach’s Taxi

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the corner of Cumberland and Clavet Streets at about 3:30 am on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, following reports of a robbery that had just occurred.

Police identified the victim as the driver of a Roach’s Taxi and began to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported robbery.

Police learned the driver had picked up two men from Donato’s Bakery at 161 Court Street South around 3:15 am.

The two suspects requested the driver bring them to the corner of Court and Clavet Streets. Once the cab arrived the male suspect in the front passenger seat demanded money from the driver before assaulting him.

The second male in the backseat of the cab also demanded money from the driver.

The two suspects fled from the cab on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and were last seen running westbound down Clavet Street toward Court Street.

Suspect No. 1 is described as a Caucasian male standing about 5’8” tall and appearing to be in his mid-to-late 20s. He wore a dark jacket and was in the front passenger-side seat of the cab during the incident.

Suspect No. 2 is described as a Caucasian male standing about six-feet tall.

Through the course of their investigation, the police acquired video surveillance showing the suspects around the time of the incident. The Thunder Bay Police Service is releasing a brief clip from that footage in hopes the public can assist in identifying the suspects.
