Electronics Thefts Result in Arrest

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers began investigating reports of a theft at an electronics store at the Intercity Shopping Centre on July 31.

The reported theft had taken place just before 9 pm on July 30. A male had entered a back room of the store and stole a number of items totaling a value of nearly $8,000.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, officers with the Community Response team were able to identify a suspect.

On Saturday, September 7 an officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s uniform patrol branch was off duty at an Arthur Street grocery store when he spotted the wanted male.

On-duty officers were dispatched to the grocery store just after 1 pm and completed the arrest.

Jason Robert RITCHAT has been charged with Theft Over $5,000, Breach of Probation x 2.

He appeared in court Sunday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
