Sports can be tough on the human body and athletes worldwide prioritize their health, so they can continue doing what they love. Whether it be football, running, basketball, cycling, athletes bring passion and dedication to their sports. Unfortunately, that dedication can be cut short due to devastating injuries. Too many athletes know what it is like to suffer a career-ending injury, but with proper attention to training such damages can be prevented.

Dr. Julius “Ju” Hearn understands how difficult it can be to suffer a devastating injury. A former pro basketball player in the Republic of Georgia, Dr. Hearn was forced to leave basketball behind after succumbing to a broken hand. Although a difficult time in his life, Dr. Hearn was able to grow from this loss and build his company Recharge Athletics. On a mission to prevent injuries from happening, Dr. Hearn opened Recharge Athletics inspired to change the way we look at sports performance.

After immense success with his first venture 360 Active Recovery, Dr. Hearn was ready to take his training business to the next level. What makes Recharge Athletics different is that it focuses on a rounded, balanced and holistic approach. Dr. Hearn brings his vast knowledge of both Eastern and Western medicine and combines the two to offer new and improved ways to challenge the body. By combining training, recovery, and nutrition, he creates tailored programs that fit his clients’ needs. “Our goal is to keep athletes in the best shape for the longest amount of time possible,” states Dr. Hearn.

Dr. Hearn holds multiple degrees, including a doctoral degree in Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Understanding the sheer amount of stress an athlete’s body faces Recharge Athletics programs focus on flexibility, mobility, and strength. By focusing on the weaknesses of an athlete early in the season, Dr. Hearn works hard to ensure they won’t become a problem in the future. Dr. Hearn explains, “I believe that if we can effectively target and heal any weak areas in the body first, we can better prevent not only injuries but the severity of them as well.”

Dr. Hearn’s strategy through Recharge Athletics is unprecedented in that he strives to treat injuries before they even happen. While most sports training centers focus on a more reactive approach to healing injuries, at Recharge Athletics athletes can be rest assured that Dr. Hearn is more about employing a proactive approach. With that peace of mind, athletes can look forward to long careers in sports, injury-free.
