THUNDER BAY – “I am very disappointed to hear of layoffs at the Thunder Bay Bombardier plant.  I have been in constant contact with the employer and the union. I know that these are difficult times for Bombardier employees and I – along with our federal Liberal government – are here to support them.

“It was just a few months ago that Doug Ford told the union president that there would be another contract coming. But where is he now? While our federal government and the hardworking people in my community worked to save jobs at the Bombardier plant, Doug Ford sat on his hands and made empty promises. His government let these critical investments lapse. In fact, they took over a year to open up the funding stream that could help Bombardier workers in Thunder Bay. Instead of acting with federal support to save these jobs, they decided to play partisan games with workers’ livelihoods.

“To Thunder Bay workers: we stand with you. We will work with you to ensure that our community pulls through. Our Government has made historic investments in public transit, but Doug Ford has left that money on the table. It’s time for him to stop hurting Thunder Bay’s workers and get to work.”

Hon. Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North and Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour
