Hammarskjold High School – Day Nine Lost Due to Threat

THUNDER BAY – Another day of school lost at Hammarskjold High School. Thunder Bay Police Service at the scene and investigating. Anyone with knowledge about the specifics of the threat is urged to contact police directly at the dedicated tip line, 684-5001.

Update – 11:10 AM EDT

Hold and Secure has been lifted for : St. Pius X School, Gateway, Bishop E.Q. Jennings Senior Elementary School, Corpus Christi Elementary School & St. Bernard Elementary School.

Due to an anonymous threat received by Thunder Bay Police Service Hammarskjold High School will be closed today, Mon April 8th, 2019.

All efforts will be made to reopen on Tuesday, April 9th.

The following schools are on a Hold and Secure until further notice Algonquin Avenue Public School, CD Howe Public School and Gron Morgan Public School.

As well the following schools are also placed in Hold and Secure: St. Pius X School, Gateway, Bishop E.Q. Jennings Senior Elementary School, Corpus Christi Elementary School & St. Bernard Elementary School.

The threat is currently being investigated by Thunder Bay Police Services, and the regular dismissal is anticipated with the Hold and Secure precaution to be lifted by the end of the school day.

Buses will be returning to the school to take students home. Students without keys will be dropped off at Superior CVI.

Jim Stadey of Eat Local Pizza advises that their location on Red River Road is open for students to stop by if they have to wait on a ride home.
