TORONTO – SPORTS – Devin Mauro notched a hat trick to help propel the Soo. Jr. Greyhounds to a 4-0 victory over the Thunder Bay Kings Monday afternoon in Day 1 play at the 2019 All-Ontario Bantam Hockey Championship in Toronto.

Sault Ste. Marie carried a 1-0 lead after one period on a Mauro marker, then upped their cushion to three with a pair of tallies in the middle session off the sticks of Tyson Doucette and Mauro.

Mauro then capped off his three-goal performance with the lone offensive effort in the third to secure the victory.

The Soo outshot Thunder Bay 27-13 in the contest with Noah Metiver posting the shutout while Keenan Marks made 23 stops in the setback.

Tuesday sees the Kings playing twice at the provincials as they go up against the Eastern Ontario Wild at 10 a.m. before tangling with the Quinte Red Devils (OMHA) at 6 p.m.
