Sioux Lookout OPP Make Arrest in Murder of George Tait

SIOUX LOOKOUT – NEWS – Ontario Provincial Police are providing Update #3 on a homicide in Sioux Lookout.

OPP report that on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, a male was located injured in the area of Seventh Avenue and Roy Lane in Sioux Lookout.

The victim died as a result of his injuries. The deceased was identified as 40-year old George TAIT of Sachigo Lake First Nation.

Investigators determined his death to be the result of a homicide. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northwest Region Crime Unit has been actively pursuing all leads in this case.

On March 27, 2019, investigators from the OPP Northwest Region Crime Unit arrested 32-year-old Allen YERXA of Lac Seul First Nation with Second Degree Murder contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear by video on April 3, 2019. at the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden. .

OPP Northwest Region Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Scott Moore of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continues to investigate this homicide.
