Police Seek Public Help to ID Armed Robbery Suspect

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police are seeking help from the public to locate an armed robbery suspect. Detectives with the Thunder Bay Police Service are investigating a weekend armed robbery of a business in the city’s north side.

Officers were dispatched to the reported robbery of the H&R Block tax preparation office on Cumberland Street South just before 8:30 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

On arriving, investigators learned that a male suspect armed with an edged weapon had entered the business and confronted an employee. The armed male demanded cash, but the business did not have any available and the employee was unable to comply. The male then fled with undisclosed property from the business in an unknown direction.

The employee sustained minor injuries during this incident.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, possibly in his 30s, with a light complexion. He stood about 6’2” tall and had a medium build.

He wore a black or dark brown leather jacket over a red or orange sweater with a hood. He also wore dark pants tucked into his boots and white or pale yellow gloves.
