Vanska posts shutout as U-18 Kings improve to 2-0 in NAPHL

BLAINE, Minn. – Eric Vanska posted the shutout while Jordan Baranesky had the lone goal of the contest as the Thunder Bay major midget Kings went on to edge the Metro Southwest Lakers 1-0 Friday night in North American Prospects Hockey League play in Blaine, Minn.

After a scoreless first frame, Thunder Bay notched the lone tally of the evening 10 minutes into the second period with Gareth Aegard and Christian Veneruzzo combining to set-up Baranesky for the eventual game-winner.

Vanska did the rest from there handling every attempt fired his way helping the Kings improve to 2-0 early in the NAPHL’s under-18 division.

The major midgets are back at it Saturday at 5 p.m. as they take on the U-18 Metro Northwest Green Giants.

Meanwhile, Thunder Bay’s U-16 Kings (1-1) also return to the ice Saturday with a 1:15 p.m. match-up vs. the Minnesota Walleye.
