Serious Injuries for Woman in Motor Vehicle Accident

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Female sent to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in serious condition following a motor vehicle collision on Walsh Street. Police report that on September 6th, 2018, at approximately 10:18hrs, Thunder Bay Police was dispatched to the intersection of Walsh Street at Brown Street for a motor vehicle collision.

The collision involved a Silver Dodge pickup truck, driven by a 56-year-old Thunder Bay female, which was traveling westbound on Walsh Street and rear-ended a Silver Hyundai, driven by an 86-year-old Thunder Bay male, at the intersection of Brown Street.

The Silver Dodge pickup truck then continued in a northwest direction colliding with a house and a parked vehicle at the northwest corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Dodge truck was transported to the hospital in serious condition and is receiving medical treatment. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured. It is believed that a medical issue precipitated the collision.

The intersection was closed to all traffic for several hours while collision investigators from the Traffic unit gathered evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
