Fort Frances OPP – Busy weekend for Officers

The OPP along with all Ontarian with common sense are asking that people keep a watchful eye to keep impaired driver off our roads.

FORT FRANCES – The Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had a very busy weekend while responding to 112 calls for service over the Labour Day Long Weekend. In addition, members conducted proactive patrols on the District’s Highways, issuing 48 Provincial Offence Notices (P.O.N.s) in total.

The following is a breakdown of the 48 P.O.N.s issued:

  1. 28 issued for speeding,
  2. Ten for other Highway Traffic Act offences,
  3. Three for Liquor Licence Act offences,
  4. Three for Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act,
  5. Two for other Provincial Offences Act offences.

In addition to the above, Rainy River District OPP laid one drug charge contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance act, and eight Criminal charges.

The OPP would like to remind the public to drive safely and exercise caution on district roadways and beyond.
