DRYDEN – WEATHER – There is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Dryden and Vermilion Bay.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Dryden – Vermilion Bay

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon as a warm front from Minnesota approaches the Canadian border. A few of these thunderstorms could be severe and warnings may need to be issued for the afternoon and evening hours.

Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
