THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for significant rainfall amounts for a large part of Northern Ontario.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Nakina – Aroland – Pagwa
  • Pickle Lake – Cat Lake
  • Summer Beaver – Wunnummin Lake – Kingfisher Lake
  • Fort Hope – Lansdowne House – Ogoki

Significant rainfall amounts possible today.

A few rounds of showers and thunderstorms will affect the area today as a large and moisture laden disturbance affects the region. However, there will also be significant gaps in the precipitation from time to time as well.

While total rainfall amounts will vary considerably across the area, some of the thunderstorms may produce very heavy downpours.

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are possible by this evening, especially in areas that receive several thunderstorms.
