Extreme Cold Warnings in effect for Christmas Day and likely into the week

THUNDER BAY – Extreme Cold Warnings continue for all of Northwestern and almost all of Northern Ontario. Environment Canada has updated the weather alerts for the region, advising that the cold weather and risk of frostbite is still very present.

Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Fort Frances – Atikokan
  • Sandy Lake
  • Kasabonika
  • Sioux Lookout – Savant Lake
  • Dryden – Ignace – Raith – English River
  • Nipigon – Geraldton – Beardmore – Greenstone
  • Kenora – Rainy River – Red Lake – Vermillion Bay

A period of very cold wind chills continues. Extreme wind chill values of minus 40 or below continue this morning.

Wind chills will moderate during the daytime hours, however, wind chill values near minus 40 are expected again tonight.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
