Kenora OPP Arrest Suspect for Assaulting Officer

OPP have laid a number of charges in a stolen vehicle investigation

KENORA, ON- Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Kenora OPP and members of the OPP Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), have charged a Kenora man following an arrest yesterday.

On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at approximately 10:25 am, as a result of an ongoing investigation, police arrested a male on a warrant in downtown Kenora. During the arrest, an altercation ensued and an officer was assaulted. The officer sustained minor injuries.

As a result of this investigation, 28-year-old Merrill LAND of Kenora has been charged with Resist Peace Officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and Assaulting a Peace Officer s. 270(1)(a) CC.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
