THUNDER BAY – At 01:45 AM an alarm was received by the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Service for a possible structure fire on the 800 block of Finlayson St.

An initial response of three pumper trucks carrying 13 firefighters responded.

The first arriving pumper reported a small garage at the rear of the residential property was involved showing fire emanating from the gable end.  The fire was attacked by the pumper crew bringing the blaze under control. A nearby hydrant was used to provide a water supply for spot fires and refilling the pumper supply tank. Hydro and telephone lines that were situated close to the garage suffered some damage as the flames were shooting from the roof line producing a significant amount of heat.

No other structures were in danger of catching fire. The fire cause is under investigation.
