THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The HMCS Griffon were conducting training drills on Lake Superior in the Thunder Bay Harbour over the weekend. About thirty members of the HMCS Griffon along with trainers and officers were learning and enhancing their skills in First Aid, Patient Extraction, and in how to coordinate between the communications/command op centre and the boats in the water.

Over the course of Saturday, and Sunday, members of the HMCS Griffon trained in first aid, communications, safe boat handling, rescuing man-overboard operations, and in working together as a team to ensure successful operational goals.

Lt. Commander Cook explained how there are opportunities for individuals from the age of 17-60 to join the HMCS Griffon.

For high school students there is also a co-op opportunity to join the Griffon for a semester, and work in the Naval Reserve for half-days Monday to Friday and be paid.
