Thunder Bay Kings Hockey BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay minor midget Kings picked up three points apiece from Michael Stubbs and Travis Hensrud to help them skate to a 4-1 victory over the California Titans Thursday in their 2017-18 North American Prospects Hockey League opener  at the Schwan Super Rinks in Blaine, Minn.

Stubbs put the under-16 Kings in front midway through the first period with the lone tally of the session.

Acton in the final frame saw Stubbs add some insurance with his second of the day with 3:13 remaining in regulation before Dawson Lampi iced it with an empty netter in the late going to round out the scoring.

The Kings outshot California 33-19 in the contest with Eric Vanska picking up the win while Ronan Mobley suffered the loss in net for the Titans.

The minor midgets return to NAPHL play Friday morning at 8 a.m. as they take on the Connecticut Elite.

As for the major midget Kings their first under-18 division match-up goes tonight at 9 p.m. vs. the Minnesota Magicians.
