Thunder Bay Police Unit at Thunder Bay CourtTHUNDER BAY – Updated – An arrest has been made in the sudden death investigation following the discovery of a deceased man on Monday September 10 2017.

The name of the accused in the Syndicate Avenue North homicide and assaults has been identified as thirty-five-year old Nazareth Alexander NELSON of Thunder Bay. He has been remanded into custody with a court date of October 13, 2017.

The Criminal Investigations Branch of the Thunder Bay Police Service has made an arrest in connection with a homicide and two assaults which occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Syndicate Avenue North.

Police were called to this location just before 11:30AM EDT on September 10, 2017.  A deceased male was discovered along with a twenty-five-year old male and a twenty-three-year old female who were victims of assaults.  All involved parties were known to each other.

A post mortem examination of the deceased adult male is expected to occur in Toronto this Wednesday.  Results of that examination will determine a positive identification of the victim.

A thirty-five-year old Thunder Bay man was wanted in connection with the homicide and 2 assaults. That suspect was arrested at a south side residence last night. The Criminal Investigations Branch worked with members of the Community Response Team and Uniform Patrol to locate and arrest the accused just before 8:45PM EDT.

The suspect has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Attempted Murder.  The name of the accused will be released after he makes his first appearance today.
